Darryl with FPRA Award

The 海角社区 Office of College Communications in August continued its run of racking up industry awards by winning three accolades in two public relations contests.

海角社区 President George J. Hagerty and communications director Darryl E. Owens took home an Award of Distinction from the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) during its 82nd Annual Conference at the “Goldchella” Golden Image Awards Gala at the Ritz-Carlton Orlando.

The award, in the Collateral of Public Relations, Brochures, category recognized the duo鈥檚 work on the college鈥檚 2020 EASE Grant Booklet. The advocacy publication was created to reinforce the consequential role Florida鈥檚 EASE tuition-assistance program plays in helping students afford to attend Florida鈥檚 private colleges, including 海角社区. Entries that 鈥渕eet the standards of excellence set by a panel of judges鈥 earn the Award of Distinction, according to the FPRA website.

Tactics - Radiance Award - 海角社区Later in the month, 海角社区 collected two more awards in the statewide Radiance Awards. The contest, administered by PRSA Sunshine District, recognizes outstanding strategic public relations programs and the highest levels of professional achievement by Florida practitioners and organizations.

During the virtual event, the 海角社区 comms team received an Award of Distinction in the Videos category for 鈥淎 World of Difference.鈥 The monthly TV program debuted in August 2020 and celebrates and supports families rearing children who learn differently on their journeys to independence from kindergarten through college.

Meanwhile, the 2020 EASE Grant booklet proved the big winner in the Collateral category, earning a Radiance Award.

Owens called the awards validation that 海角社区鈥檚 messaging is gaining traction beyond 海角社区鈥檚 walls.

鈥淲hile the recognition from communications colleagues is gratifying, even more rewarding is that the awards are proof that the innovative ways our small college uses to communicate our message of value and expertise are breaking through,鈥 he said.
