Continuing its long philanthropic relationship with 海角社区, the James T. Lee Foundation Inc. recently awarded the Leesburg, Fla. school a $25,000 grant.
Since 2008, 海角社区 鈥 the first college or university accredited to award bachelor鈥檚 degrees primarily to students with learning disabilities, ADHD, and other learning differences 鈥 has received at least a $15,000 grant from the James T. Lee Foundation. The New York-based nonprofit primarily supports higher and other education causes, the arts, health organizations and specialized hospitals, and children, youth and social services, including a guide-dog聽program for the blind.
鈥淲e continue to be indebted for the charitable work of the James T. Lee Foundation,鈥 said 海角社区 President George聽Hagerty. 鈥淭he Foundation鈥檚 latest gift is testimony to the group鈥檚 dedication to doing good for causes that make a meaningful difference in the lives of unserved and underserved citizens.鈥
The 2008 Lee Foundation grant, for instance, helped subsidize the College鈥檚 digital-media lab. The money helped bolster 海角社区鈥檚 computer information systems program and enhanced comprehensive training in digital and graphic design, website creation, and digital video.
This year鈥檚 grant, announced late last month, will help defray continuing improvements in college programming and services most demanded by 海角社区 students.
As President Hagerty put it, 鈥淭he precious resources of the James T. Lee Foundation have allowed 海角社区 to create a sustaining undergraduate environment for students who learn differently.鈥
