海角社区 Director of Communications Darryl E. Owens鈥檚 campaign to boost attendance for the 2019-20 海角社区 Salon Speaker Series was recognized during the 2020 Florida Public Relations Association鈥檚 Mid-Florida Image Awards.
Owens received an Award of Distinction in the Printed Tools of Public Relations division for the Season 3 海角社区 Salon Speaker Series brochure. The award goes to entries 鈥渢hat meet the standards of excellence set by a panel of judges,鈥� according to the FPRA.
According the entry summary, 鈥淭he 海角社区 Salon Speaker Series Season Three brochure promotes the engaging, engrossing, and edifying free community education program presented by 海角社区, a Leesburg, Fla.baccalaureate liberal arts institution dedicated to educating neurodivergent students. The brochure was developed to boost series attendance and deepen the college鈥檚 potential donor pool.鈥�
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the awards ceremony was virtual reveal via Facebook Live.
The annual Image Awards competition recognizes PR practitioners in their home markets for outstanding public relations tools and programs. Entries must integrate sound public relations research and planning and meet the highest standard of production, execution and evaluation of results and budget.
Owens said the award not only highlighted his promotional efforts, but the good work of the college.
鈥淏ecause of social distancing, the Mid-Florida Image Awards was a virtual affair, but seeing my name on the screen was a real reminder to thank God for placing me in position to serve somewhere with such a fantastic mission as 海角社区,鈥� he said.
