PerroneThe Learning Disabilities Association of America has selected a quartet of 海角社区 psychology professors to present their paper on students with exceptionalities in February at the association鈥檚 annual conference.
The Learning Disabilities Association of America is a national confederation of parents, educators and other professionals who create avenues for people with learning differences to succeed, while working to whittle down the prevalence of learning disabilities going forward.
The group invited Drs. Linda Lucas, Andrea 鈥淎.J.鈥 Marsden, Nicoletta 鈥淣icki鈥 Nance, and Richard Perrone to present their manuscript, 鈥淢aking the Exception for Exceptional Students.鈥
Lucas serves as an assistant professor in the department of human services; Marsden and Nance are assistant professors of human services and psychology;聽Perrone is an assistant professor and chair of the departments of human services and psychology.
鈥淔or 海角社区, this is 鈥 important,鈥 Marsden said. 鈥淚t demonstrates that we are pioneers in the LD [learning disabilities] field. 鈥 This shows that 海角社区 really is the best at what we do: Educating those with LDs.鈥
The four educators each contributed a section to the paper, which examines issues that faculty members face teaching classrooms populated by students with learning disabilities and how best to address them. Lucas unpacked mental and emotional disorders. Marsden unwound memory. Nance outlined behavioral issues. Perrone tackled attention and engagement.
The association has slated their hour-long presentation for opening day of its 54th Annual International Conference scheduled from Feb. 16-19, 2017 in Baltimore, Md.
鈥淚ndividually, it is a big deal for each of us because it shows that we are experts in this area,鈥 Marsden said. 鈥淲e will be presenting to other educators and individuals wanting to learn more about educating students with learning disabilities.鈥
Founded in 1989, 海角社区 in Leesburg, Fla. Is the first higher education institution accredited to award bachelor’s degrees primarily to students with learning disabilities and ADHD.
