Fresh off her successful summer stint with the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, D.C., 海角社区 alumna Lindsey Flax has scored another training opportunity with the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami.
Flax, from Atlanta, Ga., will serve as an education intern. The Institute of Contemporary Art promotes continuous experimentation in contemporary art, advances new scholarship, and fosters the exchange of art and ideas throughout the Miami region and globally.
Previously, Flax, a psychology major who minored in studio arts, completed the Smithsonian Katzenberger Art History Internship. The competitive need-based program for students majoring in art history or a related discipline offers six undergraduates summer internships. Each Katzenberger intern works on specific projects involving art history, research, and/or museum education at various Smithsonian Institution museums and centers. Lindsey鈥檚 undertaking 鈥� the All Access Public Engagement project 鈥� focused on accessibility.
Flax also supported the Smithsonian All Access Summer Camp. The two-week program for students ages 14-20 with cognitive disabilities in the Washington, D.C.-metropolitan area allows participants to explore personal interests at the wide selection of Smithsonian museums, document their experiences using digital recording devices, compile and edit digital media, and create short documentaries.
