Job Description
TAs are expected to attend all classes and be present during scheduled office hours. TAs are expected to be adequately prepared for class and office hours. During class, TAs are expected to take attendance, attend to students during group work and activities, answer student questions when appropriate, and help to minimize classroom distractions. On occasion, TAs are also encouraged to teach classes under the supervision of the professor.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Attend every class
- Take attendance
- Facilitate a discussion section, tutorial or class activities
- Hold weekly office hours
- Offer help with projects
- Keep records
- Distribute and copy reading materials
- Prepare answer keys or supplementary notes
- Add information and/or announcements to Canvas.
Skills and Qualifications
Subject knowledge and oral/written communication skills to discuss social policy coursework. Ability to work independently, accurately and to problem solve issues that arise during the course. Strong organization and interpersonal skills.
Education/Experience: Current enrolment in the undergraduate psychology or human services program with experience and interest in social policy and academics.
Maintain Confidentiality: All completed assignments, exams, grades, correspondence, and other information about individual students in the class shall be kept confidential except where the student has given written consent.
Preferred Qualifications
Have one semester of experience of being a TA or relevant experience in mentoring peers.
