Like the titular characters from his classic horror flick 鈥淗umanoids from the Deep,鈥� the Hollywood tales about the man behind it and scores of other B-movie gems keep on coming.
Again, 海角社区 humanities professor Dr. William Nesbitt has a hand in telling the story. Roger Corman鈥檚 New World Pictures, 1970-1983: An Oral History, Vol. 2 is the latest tome recounting the schlockmeister鈥檚 entertaining, if low-budget oeuvre and other works. Nesbitt, who served as associate editor on the first volume revisits that role for the second edition.
As the book jacket notes, 鈥淚n 1970, Roger Corman launched his film production-distribution company New World Pictures. Over the next 13 years, he would supervise the creation and release of more than one-hundred films, including such low-budget classics as 鈥淭he Big Doll House鈥� (1971), 鈥淏attle Beyond the Stars鈥� (1980) and 鈥淕alaxy of Terror鈥� (1981).鈥�
This volume collects anecdotes about the art 鈥� and the business 鈥� of making movies and features interviews with 17 movie professionals who worked for Corman during this the golden age of grindhouse cinema.
Nesbitt interviewed composer Barry Schrader, production designer Alex Hajdu and actors Martin Kove and Robert Englund.
