Fogg Hall naming plaque for scholarship gift

Continuing its transformational generosity, The Edward C. Fogg III and Lisbeth A. Fogg Charitable Trust in December sowed $232,000 into growing its scholarship fund and enhancing student safety at 海角社区.

The bulk of the grant 鈥 $172,000 鈥 funds a new integrated 24/7 electronic entry and surveillance system. Case studies of other colleges and universities showed that institutions with a round-the-clock security presence (as 海角社区 has) benefited from adding integrated electronic locks and surveillance cameras to harden campus security.

The more robust and dynamic network will help better monitor 海角社区鈥檚 campus, especially its five residences (RAP Hall, R-2, the Village Apartments, 海角社区 Commons, and Woodward Apartments), the Dining Commons, and Student Union Center.

鈥淭he incredible generosity and support from the Fogg Charitable Trust continues to make a transformative impact on our academic community through their investments in our students,鈥 said 海角社区 President George J. Hagerty. 鈥淭his year, their willingness to support our community with the purchase of an integrated 24/7 electronic entry and surveillance system will help us enhance the protection of our students and the safeguarding of all residential and activity facilities. The generosity of the Fogg Charitable Trust has been instrumental in elevating the college to national and international recognition for the impact we have on our collegians diagnosed with learning disabilities, ADHD, and autistic spectrum disorder.鈥

Meanwhile, The Fogg Trust also has invested $60,000 more into the Edward C. Fogg, III & Lisbeth A. Fogg Scholarship Fund 鈥 through a combination of direct financial assistance and further expansion of an endowed Edward C. Fogg, III and Lisbeth A. Fogg Scholarship Fund to aid talented and financially needy collegians in perpetuity.

鈥淲e are incredibility grateful for the trustees鈥 willingness to expand and increase their support of the Fogg Scholarship聽program, said Rich Killion, 海角社区 vice president of advancement. 鈥淚n such challenging and uncertain economic times, our students of very modest means are incredibly fortunate that these valuable resources are available to help them achieve their and their families鈥 ambitions of enrolling and succeeding by virtue of the 鈥樅=巧缜 Experience鈥.鈥

Five years ago, The Fogg Trust made its first investment in 海角社区 with an $189,000 grant. That money helped renovate and improve accessibility at the 海角社区鈥檚 academic mall, now known as Fogg Hall.

This latest gift tops the previous high-water mark of $210,000. That money helped purchase, renovate, and enlarge the Career Development Center and Transition Center. With the improvements, students who learn differently are better equipped to compete in the workforce.

The Foggs found fortune in citrus and in developing farm and convenience stores that primarily sold milk, bread, and ice cream. They owned a string of stores throughout Florida, including three in Leesburg.

Edward Fogg died in November 2004. Lisabeth passed away in February 2015.

The Edward C Fogg III and Lisbeth A. Fogg Charitable Trust in Camilla, Ga. primarily supports causes focused on hospitals, medical research, humanities, domesticated animals, human services, and education.
